Okay, someone just wrote me on MSN. The very first message I got was:

Since when did NCSoft start monitoring MSN? Or are they maintaining an in-game MSN client in one of their games or something? o.o

Fake. NCsoft will never contact you. Close the window, block the user that sent you that message.

MSN is built-in in Lineage 2.

It's real, NCsoft is monitoring MSN conversations that are done in-game of Lineage 2. ^_^

Wha? Since when?

Instinct told me it was fake since some guy tried to jack my Neowin account (claiming that he was BOOGSoft-however-you-spell-it) so I'm all paranoid. =\

Not sure, but you can now access MSN Messenger in-game of Lineage 2.
Everytime the L2 player logs-in MSNM and send a message to someone, that message quoted above appears.

I guess it is to check if there are conversations related to hacking and what not. Because of this, xfire conversation will not work with L2 anymore.

btw, it's Lineage 2 NA btw, not sure with Europe or Korea. I was told that each L2 region is unique.

I too remember reading Anet never contacting you. Altho I can't find the EULA right now. Moreover I couldn't find anything on Ncsoft tapping your MSN at ncsoft.com.

Anyways this thread should be moved to Q&A IMO. Better chance that Gaile or someone else better informed will notice this too.

It's NCsoft's. You know their customer support is well not-that-good.
But you can ask L2 players, for sure they've noticed by now that MSN Messenger is a built-in feature of Lineage 2 C4(?).

My guild members who are playing L2 have been using MSN since we noticed it's availability in-game (built-in).

You can rest assure that it is legal and legitimate. But if L2 player's words are not plausible enough, NCsoft should be the one to answer this inquiry then ^^

[It's similar to those questioning the concept behind 2-slots if merged account. That concept and the concept of stand-alone expansion was first introduced in City of Villains(/City of Heroes), in other words, NCsoft's not ANet's. ^_^ ] - There really are things NCsoft's doing, adding, making a decision that is not available in other games and franchises or later will be introduced. These two are just but a few of those "NCsoft decisions".

I had no doubt it was legimate as it only appeared in that one conversation window and they couldn't get any information unless I gave anything away anyway, I was mostly just curious as to why it popped up in MSN of all places.
